Patrol is the backbone of your Wilton Police Department. They provide 24/7 coverage and serve as primary responder to all routine and emergency calls in Wilton, East Wilton, East Dixfield, Dryden, and all other rural areas of Wilton. Officers are certified by the Maine Criminal Justice Academy and complete a comprehensive field training program ranging from 6-12 weeks depending on prior experience.

Patrol officers receive specialized training in accident investigations, response to domestic violence, crime scene processing, and dispute resolution. Currently the department has several officers who are emergency medical technicians that respond and assist medical services as needed. Patrol officers are provided up-to-date equipment which benefits their responses. Each patrol vehicle contains a mobile data terminal with DMV acess, records management access, and recording equipment.

Officers conduct one community outreach program per year and attend our three community meetings during the spring. Officers are provided with up-to-date equipment which enhances their performance.

Officers are responsible for many investigations which aids detectives.
